The RTA is currently considering upgrading Nelson Bay Road (Main Road 108) between Bobs Farm and Anna Bay. Main Road 108 is the major arterial road connecting Newcastle and Williamtown with the Tomaree Peninsula. It carries a large proportion of locally based traffic in addition to tourist traffic visiting the Nelson Bay area particularly during holiday periods and weekends. It is the only route which services the Tomaree Peninsula and the various small townships between Newcastle and Nelson Bay.
